2016 Billboard Music Awards Sunday Night

2016 billboard music awardsThe Billboard Music Awards honors some of the hottest names in music today.

This year, the show will be broadcast on Sunday, May 22, 2016 LIVE on ABC.

Awards were given for the top album/artist/single in different genres. Award recipients included Taylor Swift, Iggy Azalea, Sam Smith, One Direction, Pharrell Williams, John Legend, Meghan Trainor, Hozier, Florida Georgia Line and Calvin Harris.

The 2015 show was hosted by entertainment mogul Ludacris and supermodel and TV host Chrissy Teigen, with amazing performances from Britney Spears with Iggy Azalea, Ed Sheeran, Fall Out Boy, Hozier, Imagine Dragons, Jussie Smollett and Yazz from the cast of “Empire” with Estelle, Kanye West, Kelly Clarkson, Mariah Carey, Meghan Trainor with John Legend, Nick Jonas, Nicki Minaj with David Guetta, Pitbull with Chris Brown, Simple Minds, Van Halen and Wiz Khalifa with Charlie Puth. The fan-voted Billboard Chart Achievement Award was given to Taylor Swift for the monumental sales success of 1989. Swift also debuted her “Bad Blood” music video to open the show.

Billboard Music Awards finalists are based on key fan interactions with music, including album and digital songs sales, radio airplay, streaming, touring and social interactions on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Spotify and other popular online destinations for music. These measurements are tracked year-round by Billboard and its data partners, including Nielsen Music and Next Big Sound. The awards are based on the reporting period of March 10, 2014 through March 8, 2015. Since 1940, the Billboard charts have been the go-to guide for ranking the popularity of songs and albums, and are the ultimate measure of a musician’s success.
