Mary Kay Ash Foundation Raises $100,000 For Look Good Feel Better® Program

Mary Kay runDuring a special presentation at the 2nd annual MK5K – Diane Tsialtas Memorial Run, the Mary Kay Ash Charitable Foundation presented a $100,000 cheque to support the Look Good Feel Better® program. This is the fourth consecutive year a donation in this amount from the MKACF has been made to LGFB.

On hand to accept the $100,000 donation from General Manager Lynda Rose was Jane Wilson, Development Officer of Look Good Feel Better.

"I know firsthand that a supportive and caring network is crucial to meeting the social and emotional needs inherent with a cancer diagnosis. No woman should ever have to face cancer alone," says Wilson, a breast cancer survivor. "Thanks to our longstanding relationship with Mary Kay Cosmetics Ltd. and the support of their Foundation, it's in part because of generous donations like these that they don't have to. I was able to experience the impact of the Look Good Feel Better® program first hand, and as a result of the generous support, many women across Canada will also benefit."

The Look Good Feel Better® program is dedicated to assisting Canadian women living with cancer learn special cosmetic techniques to help manage the appearance-related side effects of chemotherapy and radiation treatments. More than 65% of Look Good Feel Better volunteers are Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultants who conduct cosmetic workshops in hospitals and cancer treatment centres nationwide. Since its inception in 1992, it is estimated that the Look Good Feel Better® program has helped more than 140,000 women living with cancer.

Mary Kay has long recognized the importance of supporting those women undergoing cancer treatment through the Look Good Feel Better® program, as well as educating women about domestic violence and keeping them safe from it.
