George Zimmerman’s Plans To Auction Gun That Killed Trayvon Martin Fall Through

George zimmerman gun auctionIf George Zimmerman thought he could profit from his "piece of history," a.ka. the weapon that killed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin in Florida four years ago, he thought wrong.

This week, Zimmerman listed the gun on an auction site. His message read:

Prospective bidders, I am honored and humbled to announce the sale of an American Firearm Icon. The firearm for sale is the firearm that was used to defend my life and end the brutal attack from Trayvon Martin on 2/26/2012. … Many have expressed interest in owning and displaying the firearm including The Smithsonian Museum in Washington D.C. This is a piece of American History.

Zimmerman was acquitted of murder in 2012, after killing young Trayvon Martin during his neighborhood watch volunteer time in Sanford, Florida.

Just before bidding began, the 9 mm Kel-Tec PF-9 pistol was taken off the cyber auction block. The site reads: "Sorry, but the item you have requested is no longer in the system."

Looks like Zimmerman will have to find another way to pay his bills.
