MTV Makes The Right Move: Cancels “Buckwild”

Shain GandeeFollowing the tragic death of Shain Gandee, MTV has decided to cancel its short-lived Buckwild reality series. The show, which followed Shain as well as a throng of other rural West Virginia young adults, was riddled with controversy since it’s pilot premiered back in January. According to TMZ, two other cast members – Salwa Amin and Michael Burford – were arrested for drug possession and DUI charges while filming. A rep from MTV went on to tell TMZ that, “Given Shain’s tragic passing and essential presence on the show, we felt it was not appropriate to continue without him.” Shain died of carbon monoxide poisoning while he was on an off-roading excursion with his friends. The show was filming its second season when the tragedy occurred.
