Rock The Weekend 1/4/13-1/6/13

FRIDAY 1/4

Reel Big Fish

Where: House of Blues

This Friday night the ska punk band from Orange County, Reel Big Fish, will be performing at the House of Blues on Sunset. Even though they’ve only had minor mainstream success, and quite a few personnel changes throughout the years, this group has maintained a steady loyal fanbase. They recently released their eighth studio album, “Candy Coated Fury,” so this will be a great opportunity to see if they can still summon up all that ska energy from the 90’s.

SATURDAY 1/5

The Wanted

Where: Pershing Square

On Saturday night, one of the world’s biggest bands is coming to one of the nation’s most popular cities. The Wanted will be taking the stage in Downtown L.A.’s Pershing Square. There will undoubtedly be no shortage of shrieking fans and overly enthusiastic concert goers crowding around this outdoor space, so make sure you get your tickets in advance and show up early to secure a good spot.

Rockers Against Cancer Benefit

Where: Key Club

Sometimes after listening to the angry tunes of hard rock it can feel like these musicians hate everything. This Saturday rockers are doing their thing to benefit something everyone would like to see go away: cancer. The Rockers Against Cancer Benefit featuring a wide slew of artists such as Ronnie Metal, Leatherwolf, Hollywood Hustlers, Octane Mob, and Fools Paradise, will be held at the Key Club. With tickets starting at $17, this is a great way to rock out while helping those in need.

SUNDAY 1/6

Benefit Concert for Sandy Hook

Where: Whisky A Go-Go

The Whisky A Go-Go’s Benefit Concert for Sandy Hook is the latest outpouring of support for those affected by the tragic events that unfolded last month at Sandy Hook Elementary School. Though they haven’t yet announced exactly which artists will be performing Sunday night, this is still a worthy cause no matter who shows up. There will be raffles, prizes, gift cards and a donation box on site.
