When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, everything changed… especially for the entertainment industry. Film and TV productions came to an immediate halt, forcing makeup artists and hairstylists to put down their brushes and tools. Despite the shelter-at-home orders, celebrity makeup artist Saisha Beecham is still thriving as a creative.

Two-time Hollywood Beauty Awards (HBAs) nominee and the winner of the 2020 Debra Denson Makeup Award at the 6th HBAs, Saisha continues to soar to new heights in her career.

From glam to grooming, she is a self-taught beauty and special effects makeup artist from Kansas City & Atlanta. With looks featured on the covers of GQ, Vanity Fair and Essence, on late night talk shows and the red carpet, she started out working with Usher before collaborating with Janelle Monae.

Designing looks for Taraji P. Henson, Kelly Rowland, Keri Hilson, Nia Long, Sanaa Lathan, Yara Shahidi and more, Saisha also specializes in men's looks, working on campaigns for PETA and ESPN, as well as with David Oyelowo, Joaquin Phoenix and client, Chadwick Boseman.

Her latest work can be seen in Beyonce's Disney+ "Black Is King." Saisha was brought in by Francesca Tolot to do the key makeup/body paint artist to dancers and talent for some of the scenes.

I sat down with Saisha to talk about the current state of the industry, race relations in the makeup world and her upcoming projects.
