As a beauty editor, I have seen firsthand how saturated the market is with new beauty products; and many that don’t deliver. But I keep on trying most of them, giving products a chance.
My latest discovery is BeautyStat, which is headed by CEO Ron Robinson, who is also the chemist behind the brand. Ron started in the beauty industry over 20 years ago working as a cosmetic chemist where he developed many of Clinique’s best-selling products, before taking on product development roles for other brands like L’Oreal, Revlon and Avon.
As his experience grew, he was regularly approached by beauty editors to help clarify any confusion surrounding new ingredients and formulations.
“I realized that I could help consumers cut through the clutter to make better purchase decisions. I felt there needed to be an online community where people could connect with beauty experts. So, I stepped out of the lab and created the BeautyStat blog,” Robinson said.
He hesitated for a long time as he did not believe that the world needed yet another beauty line. It was not until an old colleague and dear friend of his approached him with a revolutionary new technology to stabilize active ingredients such as pure vitamin C which has so many benefits for our skin but is notorious for being unstable.
“I’ve spent my entire career trying to solve this problem and we finally did after spending the next 5 years in the lab, researching and experimenting,” he said.
