Want To See The Northern Lights In Reykjavík?

Arctic Adventures will begin its Northern Lights tours earlier than usual this year, starting August 25. The tours will depart from Reykjavík and will be led by local guides who use cloud and aurora tracking technology to identify viewing locations.

The early start coincides with the solar maximum, a recurring 11-year cycle that increases aurora activity and visibility. The Northern Lights season in Iceland generally runs from late August through mid-April.

Tour Features:

  • Small group sizes

  • Transportation in minibuses or Super Jeeps to access varied locations

  • Guidance from local experts

  • Complimentary photographs of participants under the aurora

  • A “retry guarantee” valid for up to three years if no aurora is observed

Tours are scheduled in the evenings, with routes adjusted nightly depending on weather and aurora conditions. Potential destinations include the South Coast, Þingvellir National Park, and the Reykjanes Peninsula.

Visitors in Iceland during late August can combine Northern Lights excursions with daytime activities such as hiking, sightseeing, and wildlife viewing.
