Barcelona Attack: What We Know So Far

On Thursday afternoon, a white van sped through the crowds of Las Ramblas in the heart of Barcelona, Spain.

13 people are confirmed dead and 100 injured, according to reports. 

A spokeswoman for the Catalan police confirmed that officers shot  four alleged perpetrators dead and injured one more during the counter-terror raid in Cambrils, a seaside resort town about 62 miles from Barcelona.

One person linked to the attack was killed in an earlier explosion at a house in Alcanar.

Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy said in a statement that his country is mourning in solidarity with the city of Barcelona and other cities in Europe that have been devastated by extremist attacks. 

ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attack via its Amaq agency, according to the SITE Intelligence Group.
