Golden Globe and Emmy-nominated actress & producer Sofia Vergara and actress & producer Lucy Hale joined forces to honor their friend and celebrity colorist Matt Rez with Outstanding Achievement in Color & Styling. Lucy praised Matt not only for his extraordinary talent, but for the humanity, patience, work ethic and heart behind his success. Sofia echoed the sentiment, applauding his passion and meticulous attention to detail while bringing plenty of laughs to the room. Rez is a Los Angeles-based celebrity hair colorist known for creating some of the most influential hair color trends in Hollywood. With more than two decades of experience, he has become one the industry’s most sought-after colorist, working with clients including Hailey Bieber, Angelina Jolie, Adele, Florence Pugh, Kendall Jenner, Dua Lipa, Tate McRae, and many more. His signature work blends artistry with technical precision to create dimensional, natural-looking color while maintaining the health and integrity of the hair.
Born in Iran and raised in the United States, Rez developed an early fascination with the chemistry and artistry behind hair color. After attending beauty school in Portland, Oregon; he moved to Los Angeles to further his training at the Vidal Sassoon Academy in Santa Monica.
Rez is widely recognized for pioneering the”midnight” technique, an innovative coloring method that blends highlights with the natural base to create seamless depth and dimension. His work has appeared across film, television, major advertising campaigns, and international red carpets, and has been featured in publications including Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Vanity Fair, Allure and InStyle.
