Usually pranks are reserved for Halloween or April Fool's Day, but on New Year's Eve, pranksters decided to vandalize one of the most famous landmark signs in the world. The Hollywood sign was altered to read "Hollyweed."
According to Sgt. Trudeau of Security Services, the vandalized act took place around midnight on Sunday. Tarps were thrown over the "O's" in "Hollywood" to look like "E's."
Authorities said the incident was being investigated as misdemeanor trespassing.
It turns out that this wasn't the first time the sign was vandalized. On January 1st, 1976, the sign was modified to read "Hollyweed." According to reports, this was the same day that the marijuana law took effect.
