California Foie Gras Ban Is No More… For Now

For all of those Californians who love foie gras (specially fattened duck liver)… good news. According to The San Francisco Chronicle, a U.S. District Court judge has revoked the law prohibiting chefs from serving foie gras.

A law banning the sale of foie gras (due to animal cruelty) went into effect on July 1, 2012. Since then, California Chefs have been fighting to get the foie back into the kitchen.

The plaintiffs in the case banning foie gras claimed that the ban has cost them “millions of dollars” due to lost sales of their products in California and that distributors have faced prosecution, according to court papers.

As of now, it’s bon appetit foie gras lovers.
