Even the rain could not keep celebrities, government officials, dignitaries and friends from attending Sue Wong’s lavish Holiday party. The renowned fashion designer, who throws one of the best parties in Hollywood each year, opened her mansion, The Cedars, for our delight.
For those who are not familiar with her historical Hollywood residence, The Cedars was built in 1921 by MGM director; Maurice Tourneur “The Last of the Mohicans.” Silent Screen actress Norma Talmadge, Howard Hughes, Jimi Hendrix, Lou Reed, Dennis Hopper, and more recently Johnny Depp all have graced and resided in the legendary Hollywood estate.
As soon as you enter you are transported in a different era, one that speaks of history, glamour, beauty and incredible charm. Our hostess spoiled our taste buds with a wonderful buffet, and great desserts.
During the evening we rubbed elbows with philanthropist and owner of the South Pacific Surgery Centers, Simin Hashemizadeh, BAFTA West Coast Chief, Sandro Monetti who happened to be celebrating his birthday, Academy Award winning screenwriter for “The King’s Speech,” David Seidler, British General Consul Robert Pierce, Sharon Haroun Pierce. I had the pleasure of running into actress and jewelry designer Jane Seymour whom I had not seen for quite some time. Kelsey Grammer, Ronn Moss, James Frain, Grammy award-winning composer/musician Omar Akram, rockers Chris Pitman from Guns N’ Roses and Steve Cooke also were among the guests, dignitaries Ambassador Liu Jian, China’s Consul-General to Los Angeles and his wife Madame Ambassador Chen Xiaoling.
Sue Wong’s party was as elegant as herself and it was a privilege to be among such distinguished company.
Merci encore.
