Rock The Weekend 9/7/12 – 9/9/12

FRIDAY 9/7

Crosby Stills and Nash

Where: Greek Theater

http://www.crosbystillsnash.com/tour-dates

Even without the “Y” in CSNY, this powerful trio is sure to put on a great show this Friday. The members of this group (which somehow found a way to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame more than once) will be filling the Greek Theater with their musical harmonies.

Robin Thicke

Where: Orpheum Theater

http://www.robinthicke.com/events/

Friday Robin Thicke will be serenading the crowd at the Orpheum Theater. It’s true that his hair looks a little 90’s-esque, but this guy is all about what’s new in R&B. Listening to the singer’s sensual offbeat songs is the perfect way to gear up for a weekend of music.

SATURDAY 9/8

Dave Matthews Band

Where: Verizon Wireless

http://www.davematthewsband.com/#/tour

This group that helped define the 90’s music scene will be performing on Saturday at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater. This us just one of their many stops on the group’s tour to promote their new album, “Away From The World.” You won’t want to miss hearing the smooth pop sounds of the Dave Matthews Band live.

Echoes West Festival

Where: Echo & Echoplex

http://www.facebook.com/EchoesWestFestival

For something really “out there” this weekend, check out Echoes West Festival. This event boasts an assorted group of psychedelic bands that strive to send you back to the trippy 1960’s. Prepare yourself for some serious long jam sessions.

Styx

Where: Pomona Fairplex (L.A. County Fair)

http://www.lacountyfair.com/2012/entertainment/Styx.asp

“Come Sail Away” this Saturday at the L.A. County Fair with the beloved classic rock group Styx. Grab a funnel cake and then grab a front row seat to the revival of the 70’s.

SUNDAY 9/9

Mary J Blige

Where: Gibson Amphitheater

http://www.maryjblige.com/events/

This Sunday Mary J Blige is coming to Los Angeles to give everyone a true mix of rap, hip-hop, pop and R&B. So if you prefer something a bit more high energy than the soulful stylings of DMB or CSN, you’ll want to check out Mary’s show at the Gibson. The recipient of nine Grammys, this musician definitely knows how to put on a performance.
