Reality television personality Spencer Pratt has announced that he is running for mayor of Los Angeles in the 2026 municipal election.
Pratt made the announcement during a public gathering in Pacific Palisades, timed to coincide with the one-year anniversary of the Palisades and Eaton wildfires. Pratt and his family lost their home in the fires, which caused widespread destruction across multiple Los Angeles neighborhoods.
At the “They Let Us Burn” rally in Pacific Palisades, Spencer Pratt said:
“Business as usual is a death sentence for Los Angeles, and I’m done waiting for someone to take real action. That’s why I am running for mayor.”
“But let me be clear, this just isn’t a campaign — this is a mission, and we are going to expose the system. We are going into every dark corner of L.A. politics and disinfecting the city with our light.”
“L.A. is going to be camera-ready again.”
In his remarks, Pratt said his decision to run was driven by frustration with how city and state leaders handled wildfire prevention, emergency response, and recovery efforts. He cited concerns over preparedness, communication, and accountability following the fires, describing his campaign as a response to what he views as systemic failures in local government.
Over the past year, Pratt has been outspoken on social media and in public forums, frequently criticizing current leadership, including Karen Bass and Gavin Newsom, over wildfire management and broader public safety issues. He has stated that his platform will focus on emergency response reform, infrastructure, and government accountability.
The Los Angeles mayoral election is scheduled for June 2, 2026. Pratt is entering a crowded field of challengers seeking to unseat the incumbent. This marks his first campaign for elected public office.
Pratt is best known for his role on the MTV reality series The Hills, which aired from 2006 to 2010 and later returned with a revival.
