Netflix Expands Comedy Slate With New Creative Partnership With Shane Gillis and John McKeever

Netflix has announced a new creative partnership with comedian Shane Gillis and director-writer John McKeever, solidifying an overall deal that will see the duo develop new film, series, and unscripted projects for Netflix. As part of the agreement, Gillis will also star in and produce two new stand-up comedy specials exclusively for the platform.

The announcement coincides with the start of production on Season 3 of Tires, which began filming in West Chester, Pennsylvania. The upcoming season will feature 12 new episodes slated for release in 2026.

Returning for the third season are Shane Gillis, Steve Gerben, Stavros Halkias, Kilah Fox, and Chris O’Connor. Actor Thomas Haden Church also returns as a series regular following his Season 2 debut.

Since its launch in 2024, Tires has proven to be a strong performer for Netflix, with its first two seasons collectively earning more than 25 million views. The series spent multiple weeks in the U.S. Top 10 TV list and also appeared in Netflix’s global Top 10 English-language TV rankings.

Tracey Pakosta, Vice President of Comedy Series at Netflix U.S., highlighted the appeal of the partnership, pointing to Gillis’ unapologetic comedic voice and the grounded, familiar tone he and McKeever have brought to Tires. She noted the streamer’s enthusiasm for continuing to bring their brand of comedy to a global audience.

In a joint statement, Gillis and McKeever expressed appreciation for Netflix’s creative support and enthusiasm for expanding their collaboration under their Dad Sick Productions banner. The company previously produced Gillis’ 2023 stand-up special Beautiful Dogs, which marked his first Netflix comedy special.

Beyond Tires, Netflix and Gillis have partnered on multiple projects, including sold-out appearances during Netflix Is a Joke Fest in 2024. Gillis is also set to debut another new stand-up special on the platform later this year.

Tires centers on Will, the anxious and ill-prepared heir to an auto repair chain, as he attempts to revive his father’s struggling business while contending with constant pressure from his cousin Shane, now his employee.

The series was created by Gillis, Gerben, and McKeever, with McKeever directing and the trio serving as executive producers alongside industry partners.
