Would you eat this Taco Bell x Salt & Straw Ice Cream?

After immediately selling out during its launch weekend (and within 10 minutes for online nationwide shipping), Salt & Straw’s viral collaboration with Taco Bell — The Tacolate — is officially making its comeback. The sought-after ice cream taco returns as a permanent menu item at all Salt & Straw scoop shops and is available for nationwide shipping at saltandstraw.com.

To celebrate, a Taco Bell Truck will be popping up at Salt & Straw’s Abbot Kinney shop from 8-10pm on restock day (Friday, October 24th). Guests who purchase a Tacolate in the Salt & Straw shop can show their receipt to receive a free taco of their choice (soft tacos, crunchy tacos, and Doritos Locos tacos), while supplies last.

The overwhelming response to the initial launch outpaced Salt & Straw’s initial inventory run, but co-founder and chef Tyler Malek and his team have been working tirelessly to scale up production to meet this demand, while maintaining the focus on craft and creativity that continues to define Salt & Straw. The journey to creating a nationally available Tacolate has been nearly a decade-in-the-making, as Tyler first debuted housemade ice cream tacos at Salt & Straw’s Portland, Oregon soft-serve offshoot Wiz Bang Bar, where they would often sell out daily, within hours. This initial success laid the groundwork for the highly anticipated collaboration with Taco Bell.

Each Salt & Straw x Taco Bell Tacolate features hand-pressed, extra crunchy waffle cones, filled with cinnamon ancho chili ice cream, dipped in single origin chocolate, and studded with toasted quinoa. All tacos are served with two custom Taco Bell-inspired sauce packets: Mango Jalapeno Sauce and Wildberry Cinnamon Sauce.
