In 2023, Five Nights at Freddy’s clawed its way to box office domination, becoming the highest-grossing horror film of the year. Based on Scott Cawthon’s wildly popular video game series and produced by Blumhouse, the film brought animatronic nightmares to life and earned nearly $300 million worldwide. Now, the haunting legacy continues.
Set one year after the supernatural chaos at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 opens in a town that has turned real horror into folklore. What happened at Freddy’s has been twisted into urban legend, inspiring the town’s first-ever “Fazfest”—a kitschy celebration that masks a much darker truth.
Josh Hutcherson returns as Mike, the former security guard still guarding secrets alongside Elizabeth Lail’s Vanessa, a local police officer. Together, they’ve protected Mike’s 11-year-old sister, Abby (Piper Rubio), from the truth about her animatronic “friends.” But when Abby sneaks away to reconnect with Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, and Foxy, a chilling chain of events is set into motion—uncovering long-buried secrets and awakening a terror hidden for decades.
Director Emma Tammi returns to helm the sequel, co-writing the screenplay with franchise creator Scott Cawthon. Tammi also joins Cawthon and Blumhouse founder and CEO Jason Blum as producers. The film’s executive producers include Beatriz Sequeira, Christopher Warner, Russell Binder, and Marc Mostman.
The cast features returning actors Theodus Crane as Jeremiah and Matthew Lillard as the enigmatic William Afton. They’re joined by a slate of new faces, including Freddy Carter (Shadow and Bone, Pennyworth), Wayne Knight (Jurassic Park, Seinfeld), Mckenna Grace (Ghostbusters, Annabelle Comes Home), and horror icon Skeet Ulrich (Scream, Riverdale).
As Five Nights at Freddy’s 2 prepares to unleash its latest chapter of animatronic terror, fans can expect an even deeper descent into the haunted heart of Freddy’s—where every legend has a horrifying truth.
