With the WGA writer’s strike going into it’s 4th week, the industry effect is showing it’s ugly head.

The 50th Annual Daytime Emmy® Awards, which were set for June 16th have now postponed. In a statement, the organization said:

“We have made the difficult decision to postpone the 50th Annual Daytime Emmy® Awards in response to the current strike by the Writers Guild of America (WGA).”

Originally scheduled to be telecast on CBS on June 16, with a Creative Arts & Lifestyle Ceremony on June 17, they now intend to hold the ceremonies at a later date pending the resolution of the strike (as well as potential other actions which may result from pending negotiations between the studios and the DGA and SAG-AFTRA).

“We made many efforts to resolve the event challenges created by the strike and potential picketing of the ceremonies, but ultimately, in consultation with our production company, the network, and the Executive Committee, could not see a path forward to holding the cohesive, celebratory community event our Golden Anniversary warrants,” they added.
