The 7th annual Hollywood Beauty Awards (HBAs), founded by CEO Michele Elyzabeth, took place on Saturday, March 19 at the Taglyan Complex in Los Angeles. The HBAs honor the architects of beauty, recognizing talent in hair, makeup, photography and styling for film, TV, music, the red carpet and editorial.
Celebrity hairstylist, Tym Wallace won The Lawrence Davis Hairstyling Award. He was nominated alongside fellow star hairstylists Kim Kimble and Araxi Lindsey.
Former HBA hairstyling winners Larry Sims and Kiyah Wright presented the category and announced the winner!
Having trained at Dudley’s Beauty College in Chicago, Tym Wallace went bi-coastal designing hair for projects with MTV, VH1, BET and WeTV. From New York Fashion Week to Black Girls Rock, The BET Awards, and Project Runway, he has created looks for red carpet events, album artwork and the covers of Latina, InStyle, Elle, SHAPE and more. His “Tossed by Tym” hairstyles have been seen on Brandy Norwood, Kelly Rowland, Yarah Shahidi, Octavia Spencer and more. Often working with Taraji P. Henson and Mary J. Blige, Tym recently worked on the Super Bowl LVI campaign and halftime show.
Award highlights include: Lizzo made a surprise appearance for Makeup winner Alexx Mayo, Laura Dern presented to longtime film hairstylist Frida Aradottir, Henry Golding announced the winner of the premiere Groomer of the Year award and presented to friend, Melissa DeZarate.
