With votes still being counted across certain regions of Georgia, CBS News already projects Democrat Raphael Warnock has defeated incumbent Senator Kelly Loeffler in Tuesday's Senate runoff election in Georgia.
This would make Warnock Georgia's first Black senator. The other race between incumbent GOP Senator David Perdue and Democrat Jon Ossoff leans Democratic as of Wednesday morning.
If Democrats win both seats, there will be a 50-50 split in the Senate, with Vice President-elect Kamala Harris as the tie-breaking vote in her capacity as the president of the Senate.
