A man who was pulled over by troopers in Odessa, Texas shot at police officials on Saturday.
After shooting his rifle, he then killed seven people. In addition to the fatalities, about 20 people were injured, including a 17-month-old girl, hospital and police officials said.
Police confronted him in a movie theater parking lot and killed him in a shootout, according to reports.
The gunman is described as a white male in his mid-thirties, according to Odessa Police Chief Michael Gerke.
Four of the eight deadliest shootings have occurred in Texas, including the Aug. 3 massacre at a Walmart in El Paso that killed 22 people.
