On Saturday, violence erupted during a "Unite the Right" protest against white nationalists in Charlottesville, VA.
President Trump declared a state of emergency when the alt-right protest of the city's planned removal of a statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee took a turn for the worse.
According to reports, a silver Charger sped through the crowd before crashing into another vehicle. One person is reported dead and seven injured.
The street brawls erupted between alt-right demonstrators, counter-protesters, white nationalists, neo-Nazis and supporters of Black Lives Matter.
"We ALL must be united & condemn all that hate stands for,'' Trump tweeted Saturday. "There is no place for this kind of violence in America. Let's come together as one!''
"We're closely following the terrible events unfolding in Charlottesville, Virginia," Mr. Trump said in a statement. "We condemn in the strongest possible terms this egregious display of hatred, bigotry and violence, on many sides."
"We have to heal the wounds of our country," the president said in conclusion.
