Today, LATF's Hollywood Beauty Awards places the spotlight on the three nominees competing in the category of the Kathryn Blondell Award For Hairstyling, which will be remitted on Sunday, February 21, 2016. Meet Giannandrea, Riawna Capri and Wendy Iles! (Listed in alphabetical order by first name)
Giannandrea is recognized as one of the industry’s most respected hairstylists, Giannandrea has worked with top photographers Steven Meisel, Patrick Demarchelier, David LaChapelle, Jan Welters and Mark Seliger. His impressive list of celebrity clients includes Naomi Watts, Reese Witherspoon, Cameron Diaz, Gwyneth Paltrow, Jessica Alba and Kristen Stewart. A native of Italy, Giannandrea was inspired by the culture of high fashion and art that pervaded his childhood. He began styling hair at the age of 14, and by 16 began freelancing and styling local Italian singers in Bologna. Shortly thereafter, he moved to Milan, where he worked the backstage of fashion shows. He further refined his craft when he moved to New York City. Riawna Capri always wanted to be in the ‘beauty business.’ She started cutting hair in the garage when she was 16. After attending Marinello’s School of Beauty, in Henderson NV, she went on to work at Fred Segal Beauty, where she met her best friend and business partner, Nikki Lee. Riawna left Fred Segal to work as a stylist at Cush Salon before opening her very own location with Nikki, Nine Zero One, now listed as is one of the top salons in the US. Riawna is responsible for the famous pixie and bob transformations of Jennifer Lawrence and Julianne Hough. Wendy Iles works around the world on the highest level in her field of hairstyling. Wendy’s technical precision and signature spun silk finish made her sought after by the world’s most prestige editorial and fashion houses from London, Paris, and New York. Her trajectory in hair care went a step further as she began representing international haircare brands, like Kerastase, Garnier, Wella Pantene, Schwarzkopft, and Goldwell, leading their hairdresser education and masterminding their advertising campaigns.
