Breyers, the oldest nationally available ice cream brand in the United States is celebrating its 150th birthday this year. If you're in NYC… get to Madison Square Park today, June 22nd.
The brand has introduced a new variety, Breyers Ice Cream Cake, as well as partnered with celebrity chef Curtis Stone and his wife, actress Lindsay Price Stone, to create recipes that bring families together in the kitchen and celebrate moments with Breyers all year long.
Today, families are invited to celebrate the brand's 150th birthday in Madison Square Park (located at 23rd to 26th Streets between Fifth and Madison Avenues). Between 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., families will have the opportunity to walk through a discovery tour in a life-size Breyers carton and learn about the brand's history, as well as indulge in free (while supplies last) Breyers ice cream – made with fresh cream, sugar and milk for 150 years.
Grammy Award winning singer / songwriter and actress Kelly Rowland, GIRLS star Allison Williams and star of Jane the Virgin and Broadway's Chicago, Jaime Camil, will join the festivities at 12:30 p.m.
"We are thrilled to celebrate 150 years of Breyers with families in Madison Square Park today," said Nick Soukas, director of ice cream at Unilever. "We're extremely proud of our heritage, which started with William A. Breyer hand-cranking his first gallon of ice cream at his home in 1866. While we have come a long way since then, one thing has remained the same – our commitment to use high-quality ingredients, like milk and cream from cows not treated with artificial growth hormones* and sustainably farmed vanilla beans."
