Mattel Children’s Hospital UCLA Honors Kate Hudson

Kate Hudson, Mattel Children's Hospital of UCLAMattel Children’s Hospital UCLA celebrated its fourth annual Kaleidoscope Ball on Saturday, May 21st, honoring Kate Hudson, with special host Billy Bush and music by DJ Michelle Pesce, acclaimed child singer Angelina Jordan, Shawn Hook, and Orianthi and Richie Sambora with their guest Randy Jackson. Barely Famous’ Erin and Sara Foster presented Hudson with her award. The evening was held at 3Labs in Culver City, CA and was sponsored by Harry Winston, Inc.

Additional honorees included The Giving Pledge members Lori and Michael Milken who received the hospital’s highest honor, The Philanthropic Leadership Award, and fifteen year-old Jake Schuster who received the Extraordinary Children’s Award, presented by WWE Superstar Eva Marie. The evening was co-chaired by Bari Milken Bernstein, Beth Friedman and Hillary Milken.

The Cirque pour la Recherche or “Circus for Research” themed event included a cocktail reception and gourmet dinner by the acclaimed Wolfgang Puck Catering.

The presenting sponsor, distinguished jeweler The House of Harry Winston, made a pledge to the UCLA Children’s Discovery and Innovation Institute to establish the Harry Winston Fellowships program.

The evening also featured a silent and live auction that included once-in-a-lifetime items and experiences. The 2016 Kaleidoscope Ball was a huge success and raised over $3.5 million, reaching the goal to surpass last year’s amount of $2.1million. All proceeds from the event benefitted UCLA Children’s Discovery and Innovation Institute at Mattel Children’s Hospital.
