Discovery Channel Takes A Big Bite Out Of #SHARKWEEK

Are you one of the many obsessed with SHARK WEEK? Discovery Channel is hooking fans up, taking deeper dives with their digital and social media platforms.

“We’ve created the ultimate destination online and through our social platforms with a wide array of content,” said Paul Pastor, Executive Vice President of Network Strategy, Revenue and Operations.

“Shark Week online is more robust and social than previous years, with information to engage fans while experts weigh in and provide key information and insight.” Viewers can go online for digital and social media exclusive videos, the latest science news, expertly researched shark content, interactive games and other content leading up to and during the big event.

Shark Week online and social content will include:  

  • Sharkopedia – Discovery’s digital guide to everything you ever wanted to know about sharks. Sharkopedia features written content, infographics and illustrations, videos, countdowns, quizzes, and interactive elements. The Save Sharks section, created in partnership with Oceana, empowers fans to take interest and action in shark advocacy and anti-finning efforts.
  • Shark Finbassadors, Discovery’s newest initiative, hands over their Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts to scientists, divers , filmmakers, photographers, advocates, and artists for 15 days.  The Shark Finbassadors will be appearing in a daily original video series throughout Shark Week; chatting live with fans and sharing their greatest shark imagery.
  • The Daily Shark Feed features breaking news about sharks, scientific findings, sharks in pop culture features, fun countdowns,  sneak peeks & rare behind-the-scenes glimpses of Shark Week. Guest appearances on the Daily Shark Feed will include shark experts, filmmakers and shark advocates which will continue the discussions and conversations around sharks across digital and social platforms all summer long.
