Gunman Kills Two & Takes Own Life At Louisiana Movie Theater

Two people are dead and several injured after lone shooter, John Russell Houser opened fire at a movie theater in Lafayette, Louisiana during a showing of “Trainwreck.” The tragic shooting is deja vu after James Holmes shot and murdered 12 people at a screening of “The Dark Knight Rises” in Aurora Colorado in July of 2012.

According to reports, Houser fired at least 13 shots during the screening of the newly released comedy. As people rushed out of the theater, the 59 year-old shooter headed outside. It is suspected that Houser was walking towards his blue 1995 Lincoln Continental.

As soon as sirens were heard, Houser proceeded back to the theater where he took his own life.

Col. Michael Edmonson of the Louisiana State Police said, “Why did he come here? Why did he do (this)? We don’t know that.”

So what do we know about the shooter? Reports suggest that Houser was estranged from his family in Louisiana and was staying at a Motel 6, about 4 miles from the movie theater. According to the police, the shooter had a minor criminal record over a decade old for an arson arrest and selling alcohol to a minor.
