NAACP News Conference in response to shooting
Within 24 hours of being arrested for opening fire and killing 9 people at an historical church in Charleston, South Carolina, 21 year-old Dylann Roof was charged with nine counts of murder and one count of possession of a firearm, according to officials.
Roof will face a court hearing on Friday June 19th. The shooter was returned to South Carolina after waiving his extradition rights following his arrest Thursday near Shelby, N.C., about 245 miles northwest of Charleston, according to reports.
On Wednesday night, Roof joined a bible group at the church. He sat for over an hour before opening fire. Among the innocent victims, the church pastor, Clementa Pinckney, 41, who was also a state senator.
