After 50 years in broadcast journalism, Bob Schieffer, the anchor of CBS News’ “Face the Nation,” has announced his plans to reture this summer.
The 78 year-old anchor made his announcement at the annual Schieffer Symposium at Texas Christian University, which is his alma mater. Schieffer said, “Because that was where it all started for me, I wanted this to be the place, and I wanted you all to be the first to know that this summer I’m going to retire.”
Schieffer had been with CBS News for an impressive 46 years. This year he celebrated his 24th anniversary leading the desk of “Face The Nation.”
“It’s been a great adventure,” he added.
Throughout his carreer, Schieffer has interviewed many political leaders, as well as moderated the third presidential debate between President George W. Bush and Senator John Kerry.
