Today, the world remembers John Lennon 34 years after The Beatle and music legend was tragically assassinated on the streets of New York City on December 8th, 1980.
Paul McCartney recently reflected on the devastating day during an appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show. He said that when he received the news, “It was just so horrific that you couldn’t take it in – I couldn’t take it in.”
On the anniversary of his death, Yoko Ono invited fans to share their memories and their wishes for peace on social media. Wishes were left on the website, http://imaginepeace.com/ and http://imaginepeacetower.com/. The Peace Tower is a light exhibit commissioned by Yoko Ono in memory of Lennon. It is situated on Viðey Island in Reykjavík, Iceland.
