Box Office: Animation Leads Over “Interstellar”

According to Rentrak, “Interstellar” enjoyed an out of this world global weekend debut topping both the international rankings with $80 million and the worldwide rankings with $132.1 million. Director Christopher Nolani s one of the most notable filmmakers working today and easily drew eager film aficionados to the multiplex in myriad countries around the globe this weekend. In the domestic market, Disney’s Big Hero 6 took first place; continuing to prove that animation is most popular with U.S. families.
