According to a White House official, Attorney General Eric Holder will announce his resignation today. Holder was the 82nd Attorney General of the United States and has held office since 2009 as the first black American to step into the position.
Previously, Holder served as an attorney and a judge of the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. The resignation announcement surfaces while the U.S. are in the midst of air strikes on Syria against ISIS. Holder has served as the face of the Obama administration’s legal fight against terrorism.
The White House said 63 year-old Holder plans to remain at the Justice Department until his successor is in place. Now the question is: Why is Holder resigning at a time like this?
