This week, star 81 year-old Comedian, Joan Rivers stopped breathing during throat surgery, according to a law enforcement official. Rivers was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City in critical condition, apparently suffering cardiac and respiratory arrest.
In a statement by daughter Melissa Rivers on Friday, she said her mother was “resting comfortably.” She added, “My mother would be so touched by the tributes and prayers that we have received from around the world. Her condition remains serious but she is receiving the best treatment and care possible. We ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts as we pray for her recovery.”
As reported by the New York Daily News, Rivers was placed in the coma Thursday after going into cardiac and respiratory arrest during a routine doctor’s visit.
