To Do List: The 2014 OC Fair Opening Weekend

The 2014 OC Fair kicks off this weekend. Fairgoers for over a century come back every year to bask in the the entertainment, both marquee and local, it showcases. The fair runs from July 11th to August 10th. For its kick off weekend, several events and their locations include:

Pacific Amphitheater

The 2014 Toyota Summer Concert Series At The Pacific Amphitheater

The Offspring / Adolescents
Friday, July 11, 7:45 p.m.

Orange County natives The Offspring formed in 1984 and since then have released eight albums and performed in more than 1,000 shows around the world. The Adolescents was formed in Fullerton, CA in 1980 by former members of Agent Orange and Social Distortion.

Which One’s Pink – A Tribute to the Music of Pink Floyd
Saturday, July 12, 8:15 p.m.

In commemoration of the 35th anniversary of Pink Floyd’s album The Wall, Los Angeles-based Which One’s Pink? will offer the Pacific Amphitheatre audience a live performance of the album in its entirety, with a stunning display of vocals and visual effects.

Matisyahu / Tribal Seeds / The Lions
Sunday, July 13, 6 p.m.

The musical artistry of Matisyahu is a fusion of contemporary reggae, beatboxing, rap, hip-hop and traditional scat-singing and Jewish hazzan style. Based in San Diego, Tribal Seeds is a reggae band, heavily influenced by artists Bob Marley, Steel Pulse and Midnite. Known as Los Angeles’ own all-star reggae band, The Lions perform with a masterful style of novel and traditional grooves with a mishmash of dub-mixing and tribal sounds of Ethiopia and Columbia.

The Hangar

In the aviation hangar-type building with a 50-foot arched ceiling, Fairgoers can enjoy the best in tribute bands covering pop and rock favorites in addition to original bands. All tickets include free OC Fair admission.

Journey Unauthorized / A Tribute to Journey
Friday, July 11, 8:30 p.m.

With their live performance covering some of Journey’s biggest hits, it’s no surprise that Journey Unauthorized has sold out four years in a row at the OC Fair. With attention to detail and years of experience, this hit tribute band performs a perfected routine of Journey’s classic songs that make audiences feel as if they had been transported back to the 1980s.

Zeppelin Live / A Live Rock Tribute to Led Zeppelin
Saturday, July 12, 8:30 p.m.

Formerly known as Heartbreaker, Zeppelin Live’s tribute to rock legend Led Zeppelin has seen sold out shows at the OC Fair four years in a row with its dynamic live performance of Led Zeppelin’s top hits.

The English Beat / The Debonaires
Sunday, July 13, 8:30 p.m.

Known in England as simply “The Beat,” The English Beat is a ska revival band founded in England in 1978. The English Beat returns to the OC Fair for a third year in a row with its fusion of ska, pop, soul, reggae and punk rock. As Southern California natives, The Debonaires have performed their unique blend of Jamaican ska, rocksteady and reggae throughout Los Angeles, Inland Empire and Orange County since the 1990s.

Action Sports Arena

If it will cause adrenaline to flow or crowds to cheer, it will be featured in the Action Sports Arena. Action-packed lineups include demolition derbies, motorcycle speedway, bull riding, BMX, canine agility demonstrations and more. All tickets include free OC Fair admission. There are limited general admission seats that are free with Fair admission. Events include:

Speedway Fair Derby

SummerFist VII
Sunday, July 13 at 6:00 p.m.
