TCM video tribute to Eli Wallach
Eli Wallach has passed away at the age of 98. He died on Tuesday at his home in Manhattan. His acting career spanned over 60 years in film, television and on the stage.
His most noted roles include, Silva Vacarro in Baby Doll, for which he won a BAFTA Award for Best Newcomer and a Golden Globe nomination. Also, Calvera in The Magnificent Seven, Guido in The Misfits , and Tuco in The Good, the Bad and the Ugly. In 2006, Wallach portrayed the loveable neighbor to Kate Winslet, Arthur Abbott in The Holiday.
Turner Classic Movies will remember the legendary actor on Monday, June 30th, with an 11-hour marathon featuring five of his performances. The marathon will feature Wallach in such memorable films as How the West Was Won (1962), The Misfits (1961) and Baby Doll (1956), which earned him a BAFTA Film Award and a Golden Globe® nomination. A complete schedule is included below. A cherished member of the Turner Classic Movies family, Wallach was a special guest at the 2010 TCM Classic Film Festival. That same year, Wallach joined Robert Osborne on-air to co-host a night of films as TCM’s Guest Programmer.
