At the beginning of the month, Apple was at court with Samsung, who was ordered to pay $119.6 million in damages for infringed patents held by Apple Inc. Just two weeks later, the tech empire has settled yet another lawsuit. This time with Google.
According to Reuters, Apple Inc and Google Inc’s Motorola Mobility unit have agreed to settle all patent litigation between them over smartphones. This is said to be one of the highest-profile lawsuits in technology.
Google’s Android and Apple’s iOS operating systems are rival softwares. Both companies have control over app software.
As stated in a joint remarks, “Apple and Google have also agreed to work together in some areas of patent reform.” The late Apple founder, Steve Jobs was determined to win the battle over copy infringement. He was certain that Google’s Android was a stolen copycat of the iPhone’s operating system.
