Sunset Strip Music Festival Expands With Nederlander Concerts

Sunset Strip Music Festival and Nederlander

The 7th Annual Sunset Strip Music Festival will see some changes this year. Instead of its normal August run, the two day fest will take place from Saturday, September 20 and Sunday, September 21 on The Sunset Strip in West Hollywood, Calif. They are also explanding with Nederlander Concerts, the premiere family-owned West Coast promoter, which has been selected as a partner to book and promote the music festival.

SSMF will kick off with a tribute to a Sunset Strip icon on Friday, September 19. In 2013, SSMF honored multi-platinum selling, iconic rock goddess Joan Jett with the Elmer Valentine Award for her contributions to The Sunset Strip. On Saturday, September 20 and Sunday, September 21 SSMF will feature multiple outdoor stages, vendors and interactive experiences throughout the day and into the night.  In addition, dozens of musical artists of different genres will perform in venues along the strip such as The Roxy Theatre, Viper Room, Whisky a Go Go, and House of Blues Sunset Strip, among others.

“We are thrilled to partner with SSMF, LLC and bring Nederlander’s music legacy to the iconic Sunset Strip,” said Alex Hodges, CEO of Nederlander Concerts. “The Sunset Strip Music Festival brings members of the community together to celebrate music and experience the vibrant atmosphere of The Sunset Strip.”

“After careful consideration, we chose to partner with Nederlander Concerts to further spread the word about the music festival, gain additional exposure and take SSMF to the next level,” said SSMF CEO Todd Steadman. “Each year SSMF attracts top-tier artists, and we look forward to continuing to grow this amazing legacy with Nederlander Concerts.”

”I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Alex Hodges and his amazing team at Nederlander Concerts,” stated SSMF Managing Festival Director Karmen Beck. “We are confident this partnership and two-day street festival expansion will bring additional fans to the boulevard, which has consistently attracted 12,000-15,000 fans for the previous Saturday-only street festival over the past five years.”

SSMF plans to announce additional details, including the 2014 honoree, ticket sale information and performing artists, in the coming weeks. SSMF has already confirmed the return of Jack Daniel’s as the festival’s premiere sponsor and will continue its partnership with KTLA 5.

This year SSMF will work with CBS RADIO’s six Los Angeles stations as the event’s exclusive radio sponsors. With promotion across the popular stations, SSMF will be able to provide outstanding exposure to the festival to more than 8.5 million listeners.  CBS RADIO’s stations in Los Angeles include the “World Famous” KROQ, 93.1 JACK FM, 97.1 AMP Radio, KRTH 101 (K-Earth), KNX1070 NewsRadio, and 94.7 The Wave.  KROQ, known for their discovery of up-and-coming artists and often the first station to champion new, unsigned, and local Alternative Rock bands, will serve as the lead promotional partner for SSMF.
