Bruce Springsteen is getting a documentary on HBO. “Bruce Springsteen’s High Hopes,” airing Friday, April 4 at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT, will chronicle the making of Springsteen’s 18th studio album. From filmmaker Thom Zimny, the 30-minute documentary peels back the curtain on the creation of “High Hopes,” which debuted at No. 1 in 20 countries in January. There will be footage of studio sessions, rehearsals, E Street Band on tour and interviews with Springsteen and Tom Morello, with whom he collaborated on the album. This marks a reunion between Springsteen and Zimny, who also directed the Springsteen-centric documentary “The Promise: The Making of Darkness on the Edge of Town.” Springsteen and the E Street Band return to the U.S. in April and May following an international trek that includes stops in South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. The E Street Band will be honored at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for musical excellence at the April 10 ceremony, which will also be broadcast on HBO the following month.
