Scare In Sochi: The Search For A Suspected Terrorist

Wanted posters of a suspected terrorist are all over the Winter Olympic Games’ host city of Sochi, Russia. She is being called the “black widow.” Her name is Ruzanna “Salima” Ibragimova, a widow of a member of a militant group from the Caucasus region. According to the poster text, she may be involved in organizing “a terrorist act within the 2014 Olympic region.” Sochi Police are warning people that Salima may be in the city.

According to source reports, the alleged would-be bomber reportedly was seen recently on Sovetskaya Street in downtown Sochi. Regarding previous bombings in December, radical Islamist website Vilayat Dagestan carried a statement by a rebel group commander taking responsibility for those attacks.

Addressing fears as Russia is on countdown to day 1 of the 2014 Olympics, President Vladimir Putin insisted that all necessary measures were being taken to provide security at the Sochi Games. About 40,000 police officers and security agents aided by troops are being deployed, he said.
