James Comey FBI

On Monday morning, President Obama honored James Comey, new head of the FBI during his installation ceremony at the White House.

Comey was a top Justice Department official in the Bush administration and took over last month for Robert Mueller, who stepped down after 12 years of heading the agency. He was the United States Deputy Attorney General, serving in President George W. Bush’s administration. As Deputy Attorney General, Comey was the second-highest ranking official in the United States Department of Justice.

Comey has taken over an agency that has shifted from primarily focusing on domestic crime to also fighting terrorism in the wake of the Sept. 11 attacks.
