Government Shutdown: No Signs Of Negotiating

Barack Obama John Boehner

It’s a blame game at this point. While the government is on shutdown the Democrats and Republicans point fingers at each other – huffing and puffing with no room for negotiations regarding the Affordable Care Act. Sound like a playground fight? It’s not far off.

On Thursday, President Obama told a crowd in Maryland that there is only one party at fault and one remedy. Something tells us, that won’t get the Republicans to ease up and sit down for a nice chat.

“There are enough Republicans and Democrats in the House of Representatives today that if the speaker of the House, John Boehner, simply let the bill get on the floor for an up or down vote, every congressman could vote their conscience, the shutdown would end today,” Obama said in a speech in Rockville, Maryland.

“The only thing that is keeping the government shut down, the only thing preventing people from going back to work, and basic research starting back up, and farmers and small business owners, getting their loans — the only thing that’s preventing all that from happening right now today, in the next five minutes, is that Speaker John Boehner won’t even let the bill get a yes or no vote because he doesn’t want to anger the extremists in his party.” Now, is this a fight between government parties or just between Obama and Boehner?

“The President reiterated one more time that he will not negotiate.“All we’re asking for here is a discussion and fairness for the American people under Obamacare,” Boehner told reporters.

You can cut the tension with a knife. In the meantime, the people grow more and more disgusted with the government’s actions, or the lack thereof.
