On late Monday night, several explosions set off inside a central Florida propane plant. The blasts were heard from up to 10 miles away. Luckily, no one was killed but eight were injured, with four people in critical condition.
The cause has not been determined, but authoritied say it appears workers were on the assembly line when the fire broke out. There were no injuries outside the plant. However, John Herrel of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office said that an evacuation zone had been placed to a half-mile radius. To give an idea of the explosion size, the Blue Rhino propane plant is stocked with 53,000 20 -pound propane tanks, along with 90,000 gallon bulk tanks of propane.
