Rock The Weekend 12/7/12-12/9/12

FRIDAY 12/7

Imagine Dragons: Making of “Night Visions”

Where: Palladium

This Friday Palladium is airing a documentary on the making of Imagine Dragon’s debut album, “Night Visions.” I interviewed the band back in October, and they described the creation of this record as a passionate, hectic, draining and exhilarating catharsis. Getting a glimpse into the gritty creative process of this great rock quartet is definitely something any music lover won’t want to miss.

Megadeth

Where: Fox Theatre (Pomona)

The rockin’ 80’s are coming back to town this weekend as the famous Los Angeles thrash metal band, Megadeth, is headed to Pomona’s Fox Theatre. Having been around for almost 30 years, the members of this metal group have perfected guitar solos and crowd-pleasing moves. Though music aficionados often want to paint heavy metal as cartoonish, this group’s 11 Grammy nominations demand they be taken seriously. This is going to be one heavy performance fans of this genre should absolutely catch.

SATURDAY 12/8

KROQ’s Almost Acoustic Christmas

Where: The Gibson Amphitheater

For two nights this weekend the Angeleno favorite radio station, KROQ, is putting on a concert series too good to be true. With a truly mind-blowingly awesome lineup, these back to back rock filled nights are not to be missed. Here’s just a taste of what you can expect: The Lumineers, Walk The Moon, fun., Neon Trees, Alex Clare, Passion Pit… and the list goes on. If you didn’t get the opportunity to see any great concerts in 2012, now’s your chance to pack a whole year’s worth of shows into two nights.

Coco Jones and R5

Where: Americana Mall

The newest Disney protégés, Coco Jones and R5 will be performing at Glendale’s Americana outdoor mall this Saturday. The concert is for the season five finale of Radio Disney’s hit competition show, “N.B.T.” (Next BIG Thing), and will likely be filled with throngs of excited young fans. As with most Disney singers, these artists can do it all: sing, dance and act, so they’re sure to really know how to work the crowd. LATF USA will be covering this event, so be on the look out for our article!
