Rock The Weekend 10/26/12-10/28/12

FRIDAY 10/26

Bob Dylan and Mark Knopfler

Where: Hollywood Bowl

This Friday night one of the most celebrated songwriters of all time is coming to Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl. Bob Dylan’s jangly folk rock will be filling the open aired arena that’s sure to be packed in to see him. Also performing is Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits. Whether “I Want My MTV” is your tune or if you prefer a more relaxed “Mr. Tambourine Man,” you won’t want to miss this musical pairing.

SATURDAY 10/27

Jane’s Addiction

Where: The Wiltern

The American rock band that broke on to the scene in the early 90’s paving the way for other alternative acts, is coming to Los Angeles. Though the band has gone through a some ups and downs and public split ups, they’ve been going strong for a few years now and will certainly be ready to take on the eager crowd at the Wiltern this Saturday. Fans of the alternative movement should seize this opportunity to see some of the genre’s founding fathers.

Band of Horses

Where: Warner Grand Theatre (San Pedro, CA)

Just outside of L.A. this Saturday, the Band of Horses will take the stage at the Warner Grand Theatre. This group, known for its long and winding yet powerful alternative rock ballads, puts on a great show. True, you probably won’t be on your feet pumping your fist in the air, but there’s nothing wrong with enjoying a meaningful head-bobbing concert every now and then.

SUNDAY 10/28

EEK! At The Greek

Where: The Greek Theatre

Halloween is just around the corner, and unfortunately it falls on a Wednesday this year. This means you’ll have to have all of your Halloween fun the weekend before. One perfect way to indulge in a little theme-inspired music is by attending this Sunday’s show at the Greek Theatre, EEK! At The Greek. This weekend the ceiling-less Grecian-like venue will be swelling with the frightening tunes from a 60-piece symphony dedicated to playing spooky songs. The orchestra will be tackling sounds from a wide variety of haunting muses such as the likes of Edgar Allen Poe and Harry Potter.
