Michael Jackson: The Immortal Tour returned to the Staples Center last night for the first of a two-night stand. The Cirque Du Soleil production premiered in Los Angeles in January and is touring until it will eventually become a permanent fixture at the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas. Playing to a packed house on Tuesday night, the show was in a word: Sensational! The only thing missing was the King of Pop himself, Michael Jackson.Though, at times, it felt as if he were actually there. The show chronicles the career of the pop star from child prodigy to internationally known superstar. The use of recorded music interlaced with the instrumentation of a top notch live band was seamless, as Michael’s own vocals were woven on top to perfection throughout the 2 hour performance. Writer/director, Jamie King, who has served an array of superstars from Madonna, to Rihanna, Celine Dion, The Spice Girls, Britney Spears, etc. has done an outstanding job. The special effects, lighting and choreography make Michael Jackson: The Immortal Tour an unforgettable experience. This entire production is certainly befitting of the King of Pop and if he were alive today, would beam like a proud parent.

The tour’s next stop will be Mexico on August 24th, before hitting Europe in the Fall. If you are lucky enough to have the tour stop in your city, don’t miss it!
