It used to be that if you were a young aspiring musician, you’d have to play hundreds of dive bars, just hoping that a record exec would happen to walk in, hear you, love you, and offer you a deal. This is no longer the case. The new millennium has ushered in a slew of artists (like Justin Bieber) that were discovered after posting videos of themselves singing on YouTube. Today one more artist joins this new wave of viral singers. After capturing the attention of millions of viewers, Bad Boy founder, Sean “Diddy” Combs, and President Harve Pierre announced today that Megan Nicole has been signed to Bad Boy Records.
“Megan Nicole is a complete package that I am extremely excited to add to the Bad Boy roster. She is a talented singer, songwriter, musician and entertainer,” said Diddy. “Megan Nicole is a perfect fit for the new future at Bad Boy.” Let’s hope that her career won’t go the way of Diddy’s other artists who have had promising starts but never quite seem to make it in the industry, i.e. Danity Kane, and Cassie.
