Forget the cameras rolling on kicking and screaming Kardashians, let’s learn something for a change. VICE pushes the envelope in delivering informative and educational news stories about issues worldwide. They go beyond simply posting a news headline and show what true investigative journalism looks like.

Hosted by VICE Media founder, Shane Smith, this intriguing HBO series opens viewer’s eyes to real world problems, from climate change to government corruption. In my opinion, we need more programming similar to VICE.

If you want to be informed on subjects that matter, don’t miss the premiere of VICE’s second season on Friday, March 14th at 11:00-11:30 p.m. ET/PT), immediately following “Real Time with Bill Maher.”

In the 2014 season, VICE investigates a broad range of topics, traveling to global locations to report on everything from rampant U.S. military waste and corruption in Afghanistan to extortion, torture and killing in Rio’s favelas, and terrorist training in Dagestan. This season also sees the addition of new award-winning correspondents to the show’s roster. Along with Shane Smith, 2014 correspondents include VICE Media co-founder Suroosh Alvi; conflict-zone journalist, documentary filmmaker and author Ben Anderson; Academy Award®-winning documentary filmmaker and journalist Fazeelat Aslam (HBO’s “Saving Face”); VICE Media editor-in-chief Rocco Castoro; artist David Choe; filmmaker and producer Vikram Gandhi; Iranian photojournalist and filmmaker Gelareh Kiazand; and longtime VICE correspondent Thomas Morton.
