According to Psychology Today, at least 25% of dog owners report that their pets experience anxiety from loud noises—83% of whom say fireworks are the biggest trigger. Reactions can include trembling, pacing, hiding, or even attempting to escape.

By taking proactive measures to provide comfort and safety, we can prevent unnecessary stress and potential harm to our four-legged companions.”
Tips to Keep Pets Safe and Calm This July 4th:
1. Keep Them Indoors
Fireworks are unpredictable and can startle even the calmest animals. Keeping pets indoors limits exposure to the noise and prevents them from bolting in fear.
2. Create a Safe Space
Set up a cozy retreat inside your home where your pet feels secure. Use calming music, white noise machines, or fans to help mask the sound of explosions outside.
3. Use Proper ID
Make sure your pet is wearing up-to-date identification tags. Microchipping is also highly recommended. In the unfortunate event they run off, this increases the chances of a safe reunion.
4. Skip the Table Scraps
As tempting as it is to share your feast, many common barbecue foods—like onions, grapes, and bones—can be harmful or toxic to animals. Stick to pet-friendly treats.
5. Talk to Your Veterinarian
If your pet has a known history of anxiety, don’t wait until the last minute. Your vet may recommend desensitization techniques, calming products, or short-term medications tailored to your pet’s needs.
