JJ Abrams Goes To Space With Online Series

JJ Abrams is bringing us back to space… for real this time!

As executive producer of “Moon Shot, an upcoming web docu-series about the Google Lunar XPRIZE, a $30 million race for teams from around the world to land a robot on the surface of the Moon, JJ and company will follow the people propelling this international space race.

This character-driven, emotional, awe-inspiring series of 9 short films will follow a selection of the teams currently racing to complete their missions.  It will explore the lives of their charismatic, quirky members, the sacrifices they have made to get to where they are today, and crucially, what drives them on this incredible journey.

‘Moon Shot” will debut on Google Play on March 15th and on YouTube on March 17th.

The Google Lunar XPRIZE is the largest prize competition of all time with a reward of $30 million and aims to incentivize entrepreneurs to create a new era of affordable access to the Moon and beyond, while inspiring the next generation of scientists, engineers, and explorers.

16 privately-funded teams from around the globe are racing against the clock to successfully place an unmanned spacecraft on the Moon’s surface that explores at least 500 meters and transmits high-definition video and images back to Earth, before the mission deadline of December 31, 2017. The teams come from all walks of life and range from Silicon Valley tech experts, to hackers in Germany, to IT specialists in India, to a father and son in a spare bedroom in Vancouver.  Despite the differences in their personal stories, they are united by their passion for space exploration and what making space accessible to the everyman might mean for our future.
